Birthdays, Bicycles, and Brothers!!!

Hello all - I've been a little bit of a slacker on the blog front lately, but it seems life has been super busy since I've turned three. I'm a mister know-it-all, or at least I want to know it all. My life is now filled with one hundred questions a minute, as I seek to know everything about everything. My favorite questions: Where does x, y, and z fruit/vegetable come from? Where does Mommy, Daddy, Gigi, Mimi, everyone I ever met in my entire life work? Where does x, y, and z animal sleep? What does x, y, and z animal eat? You get the picture. After I get the answers to my questions, I usually say "oooh, I didn't know that." I'm a smart cookie too because I remember the answer to the question, but I'm always coming up with a new topic to ask about. I'm also getting really good at my letters and recognizing a few words. My Nana and Papa in Kentucky sent me a package of presents. The address on the box said to "Copper Bolton." I, without any mention from Mom and Dad, noticed that my name was spelled wrong (it's 'posed to have two O's and not two PP's). I then called them up and demanded a new box with my name spelled right.

This picture is old but I hadn't posted it yet and it's cute. Mommy and Daddy's friend from medical school whose name is Jeff came up to stay with us while he was interviewing for a fellowship. I am very concrete about things and apply the rules as I know them. For example, my daddy has yellow hair. I have yellow hair. Mommy has brown hair. Therefore, boys have yellow hair and only girls can have brown hair. You get the idea? Well, I also know that my daddy's name is Jeff and this man's name was Jeff. Therefore, this Jeff must also too be my daddy. I told everyone I knew that my other daddy was coming to visit. Ooops. Once this was explained, I was just happy to have two Jeffs in my house.

Our February and March haven't been to bad weather-wise and I've managed to make it to the playground a few times. Don't let this cardinal bird hat fool you - Mommy has me completely brainwashed. I know my favorite team is the blue team and that's the team that always wins. I'll occasionally yell go Blue (sometimes unprompted) and go Cats.

Fun with popcorn.

I don't have a million friends, but I do have some here in Boston, and it seems like they all had birthdays in March. These little guys are twins Brynn and Ben and I helped them celebrate their first birthday.

My buddy neighbor Rowan celebrated his fourth birthday at the YMCA and I really enjoyed this "jumpy place." The only jumpy placed I'd known before this one was Mommy and Daddy's bed. I'm a great jumper!

Wee!!!! More fun at the jumpy place! We had one other birthday party in March and one more that we missed. Wow!

We also discovered that I'm old enough to enjoy Chuck E Cheese. I think I've been three times in the past two months and I totally love it. I love putting the tokens in, riding the games, and getting the tickets. I like putting my tickets in the counting maching at the end and winning silly prizes like suckers, straws, plastic bugs, etc. Mommy and Daddy actually enjoy Chuck E Cheese too. Here I am actually beating Daddy at air hockey.

Yummy pizza!

I'll bonk those guys!

Getting ready for the Kentucky Derby!!!

The highlight of my month was a trip to Mimi and Papaw's house in Kentucky. I went to Kentucky in October, but hadn't been to Madisonville since December 2008. I was super pumped about the airplane trip. For this trip it was just me and Mommy. I was pretty good once I got on the airplane but not so good in the airports while I was waiting for the plane to get there. Even though I hadn't seen my Papaw since July, I kept saying "Papaw's gonna be so happy to see me," and when I saw him in the airport, I just took off running to him just like I'd seen him yesterday. Mimi and Papaw know how to treat a boy - they got me a new tricycle. I was in heaven.

Their yard is a little hilly so I needed an occasional push, but I pretty quickly got the hang of the whole peddling thing.

This tricycle was complete with streamers and a little ding-dong (you know a bell).

Go Coopy Go!

The weather wasn't too beautiful, so I didn't get to ride my bike all the time, so I spent other time coloring and playing with Mimi, Papaw, and Uncle Taylor. We invented games called the Laughing Game, the Tackle Game, etc. I bossed them around nonstop and told them what to play and where - and they loved it.

I went to work at Papaw's office. I banged on his computer and told him I was checking my email. I went to school with Mim. I'm not sure if being a lawyer or a teacher is in my future though. I told Mommy the other day that I wanted to work in a hospital when I got big. When Mommy asked what I wanted to do, I said "You fix babies and I want to fix bones." Who knows where I got this idea but we'll see if orthopedics is in my future. That other Jeff must have been giving me some ideas.

We've had a few very spring-like days in March lately, so Johanna took me and my buddy Kaya to the beach one afternoon. I love the beach! It was about 70 degrees that day but the water was probably 40. I loved it, and no my toes did not turn black and fall off.

And in other news, I found out that I was right (which is all I really care about these days). I'm having a brother! I'm still calling him Chocolate for the time being. I think I'm excited about having a brother. I don't know. I know that he will have yellow hair just like me because he is a boy (the concrete thinking again). Hair aside, he looked very healthy on his ultrasound and I look forward to meeting him (or maybe not) in August!

Family Resemblance?

Most of you know that I'm going to be a big brother in August! Yay! Just thought I'd post early US pictures and see if you think me and my brother/sister look alike. I'm pretty convinced it's a boy and I want to name him Chocolate.

Me at 11 weeks and 1 day in profile and flipped upside down so we're facing the same direction

Do we look alike? Will this be a boy or girl? Will he have blonde curly hair like me? I can hardly wait - well until he's here, then I'll probably want him to go away.

I'm Free (Three)!

Happy 2010! I celebrated my new year in style - well at least the style that I've gotten used to the past couple of years: an early bath, cool jammies, festive hats, noise makers (I called it my tuba), and yelling Happy New Year at 8pm, then off to bed. It works.

January marks my birthday month. I had a lot of practice opening gifts from Christmas the month before, so I was an old pro.

I even got some money for my piggy bank. When I opened the money I yelled, "Look! This is money for Jesus's money basket." Aren't I a good Catholic boy?

We skipped the big party at home this year and instead took my bestest buddy Kaya and her mommy and daddy to my favorite gorilla restaraunt, The Rainforest Cafe. Every few minutes the animated gorillas make noise, as do the elephants. It was quite a show!

Whoa these are big elephants!

Cheese with Mommy who had worked a night shift the night before.

Kaya and her family.

The best part was the desserts. Mommy, Daddy, and Kaya's parents ordered these desserts called the Volcano. The waitresses came out yelling "Volcano!" when they brought them out, then everyone sang Happy Birthday. Wow!

Here's the volcano!

Kaya and I, not to miss out on our dessert, each got a cup of dirt: Oreo crumbs on chocolate pudding, complete with gummy worms. Yum!

After lunch, Mommy and I took a nap, while Daddy made my cake. I wanted a cow on my cake (my friend Kaya had a cow on her cake, though I must admit her cow was a homemade chocolate cow and not a plastic one). This is Daddy's creation while everyone was asleep. Ummm, well I was happy with it and it tasted good.

Blowing out the candles.

I told you last month that Santa Claus brought me some tablets that you put in the water to dye your bathtub colors, so here I am posing for some pictures with colorful water while Mommy and Daddy put their new camera to use. Aren't I cute?

I can't believe I'm three! I'm such a big boy! I have my 3 year old doctor visit in February so I'll make sure to post how big I really am.

My year in review:
My favorite toys: Still my cars. I play with them every day and line them up or drive them to places like the Science Museum
My favorite movie: Cars, followed by Peter Pan
My favorite cartoon: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins
My favorite books: Cat in the Hat, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Green Eggs and Ham, Hop on Pop, Pinkalicious
My favorite song: Honestly, my favorite song is the Halloween song... "Trick or treat, smell my feet, etc..." I frequently make up my own words to songs all the time and always include the lyrics "Everybody sing with me" and "We don't care"
My favorite questions: Why? What you talkin' bout mama? What's xyz mean?
My favorite foods: Pasta and chicken nuggets
My favorite places: Science Museum, Post Office, Playgrounds
My best friend: Kaya
What I do when I'm mad: I say "I'm so mad", or I cross my arms and make a pouty face, or I say "Hmmmph", or I run off and hide
Things I know: My whole name, Mommy and Daddy's whole names, my address, my town, that I'm three, my ABCs, I can recognize most upper case letters, I can recognize numbers 1-3 and can count to 20 (though sometimes I skip a few numbers), I know my basic shapes, all my colors, can spell my name, Mom, and Dad
I love: Mommy, Daddy, Gigi, Bubba, 'Mantha, Mimi, Papaw, airplanes, monsters, vampires, witches, anything scary, dancing, wiggling, kisses, big hugs, doing things myself, taking giant naps, playing at the playground, playing in the snow, and just being a very busy, silly kid!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

December marks me at 35 months. I'm such a big boy! December is usually quite a snowy month for us in Boston, and this month marked our second real snow. We woke up to about 8 inches and it kept coming. I donned my snow gear (and yes, I'm still wearing those snow pants that are just below my kness) and headed out to play.

I spent most of my time eating the snow, though I didn't eat any yellow snow. I exclaimed that the snow tasted like chocolate.

Can you find me?

Snow angels!

Mommy and I were pretending we were in a spaceship and flying to outerspace.

After shovelling snow, we jumped into the giant snow piles. Weee!

Daddy hurled me through air into the snow piles.

Our snowy Christmas village!

Daddy hard at work getting the cars out.

They even put me to work shovelling.

Yum, snow.

Christmas season brings Christmas parties, and our first stop was my buddy Kaya's party.

Scary Christmas monsters.

I was all about the Christmas season and all about the presents. I had helped Mommy wrap presents, so when Gigi and Bubba arrived with their 5 suitcases full of presents, I was all up in arms that none of their presents had bows on them. They had to have bows on them before they could go under the tree! I examined each present, asked who it was for, and chose a random bow to go on each present.

Cousin Samantha, Aunt Lauren, and Uncle Isaac joined us on Christmas Eve. Samantha and I share a turn on the sit and spin before Christmas Eve Mass.

After Mommy's work on Christmas Eve, she joined us in our matching Christmas PJ's and we helped Samantha open her birthday presents.

Cuddle time with Aunt Lauren.

I could hardly await Santa Claus's arrival. I left him some cookies and milk and some carrots for the reindeer on a special UK Christmas plate. I awoke super early on Christmas Day and couldn't wait to see what Santa brought. I woke up everyone in the house by 7am and the present opening began. Samantha was interested for a few minutes, but then it was overwhelming for her.

Apparently Mommy was super excited about something.

I opened up Santa Claus's loot first and I was thrilled. GeoTrax were my big gift and I got a train system, a big bridge, and extra tracks. Gigi and Bubba compelted my GeoTrax extravaganza with a big Cars set. Santa also brought me Candyland and Memory games, some bath colors, and some matchbox cars.

I got all sorts of other cool stuff like this game Ned's Head from Mimi and Papaw. In this game, there are all sorts of gross things in Ned's Head and you have to pull them out through his ears and nose - eew! I got clothes and movies and other great things.

Bubba and Daddy set up my GeoTrax in the dining room and it took up a whole corner. We had a blast and played this for hours at at time. It was definitely a hit!

Even old toys were a hit as we played with my kitchen.

I really got into playing Candyland, although I had to win every time. Samantha wasn't really interested, but she watched me play.

The memory game was a little too complicated with all these cards, but Mommy, Daddy, Lauren, and Isaac enjoyed playing it.

Everyone had a great Christmas. Mommy got new snowgear so she no longer has to wear three pairs of sweatpants and tennis shoes in the snow (see above). Daddy got a fancy new DSLR camera and I enjoyed posing in my cowboy costumes.

Crazy Cooper in action.

Christmas season wound down and the house became more empty. The snow melted and life became a little more boring, until next month.
