Life's a Beach

Welcome back to my blog!  I had a delay from when most of these pictures were taken to the time I could blog about them because my computer bit the dust for over a week.  Talk about no fun!  Anyways, I'm 28 months old.  As you can see from my posts about the Common and Plymouth, I had a pretty good month to begin with, but it only got better with my big vacation!  I'm still growing like a weed and will tell you "I'm growing bigger," and stretch out really tall.  I've finally learned most of my colors and several of my shapes.  I can identify a couple of letters, but if I don't know, I usually guess O or H.  I'm still very silly!

The weather is Boston is so silly.  Sometimes its warm, like 90 degree warm, and then two days later is 50.  When its warm, we make the most of our outside spaces and I love to play "big car."
Check out my Red Sox shirt - I'm a newly converted fan, go Sox!

Look!  What's that up there?

That's Daddy's leg!  What's that doing up there you say?  Well, I learned how to lock the door and I locked the kitchen door but didn't tell anyone and we got locked out.  Daddy climbed a ladder up through the playroom window and unlocked the door.  It was so funny!

For our vacation, I got to ride on an airplane to Gigi and Bubba's house in Charlotte, North Carolina.  My favorite thing on the airplane was using the little airplane potty, at least twice each trip.  Nana, Papa, and Grandmother were all in town from Kentucky to attend GiGi and Bubba's Derby Party, so we got to see everyone.  Lauren, Isaac, and Samantha were there too.  Look at all those cute Boltons!

We ran around their backyard playing scary monsters and dinosaurs.

Watch out for this scary dinosaur!

I'm a Kentucky boy at heart, with my UK t-shirt and my "Talk Derby to Me" hat.

Mommy with me and Samantha.

After the great-grandparents reluctantly headed back to Kentucky, Gigi, Bubba, Mommy, Daddy, and I headed to Isle of Palms, South Carolina, which is right outside of Charleston.  I loved the beach last year, and this year I took to it again.  I loved the ocean!

Bubba taught me how to fly a kite.

And I loved playing and building things in the sand.

I love sand!

I tried out the swimming pool too, though I wasn't too sure about it.  I had to hold on to Mommy the whole time.

I didn't like swimming in the blue water (big pool), but I did like swimming in the brown water (baby pool).  Yes, I named the two pools by their colors.  Don't get the wrong idea - the brown pool was just brown because there was sand in the bottom.

I got to drown Daddy!

And sunbathe with Mommy!

After a long, lovely weekend at the beach, we headed back to Charlotte and met up with Samantha, Isaac, and Lauren one last time.

I was still just as affectionate with "Mantha" as the last time.

One wagon ride and one airplane trip later, it was time for us to head back to Kentucky.

So here we are back at home, working hard as usual.  This time next month, Mommy will be done with residency - yay!  We hope you all are well.  Until next time...

Pilgrims and Pirate Ships?

Part of the month of April seemed more like the month of June, as we had about 4-5 days straight of 80+ degree weather. We made the most of it, spending as much time outside as possible, and even ventured over to Plymouth for a nice day trip. It's only about 50 minutes from our house.

You ever heard of Plymouth Rock? Well, really it's more like Plymouth Pebble. This is it. This is the famous rock. We were all expecting something a little more substantial.

Just down the way from Plymouth Rock is obviously the Mayflower. I don't know anything about a Mayflower or pilgrims, but I knew this was a big boat, and to me it looked like a pirate ship!!!

This was the coolest pirate ship I'd ever seen, and I demanded to go in it, which you can do for a small fee.

There were three different levels of the pirate ship. I explored every single crevice of the boat and looked out every single window. I was in heaven!

Whew! What a fantastic day! We topped off the day with lunch at an outdoor cafe. I didn't see any pirates or pilgrims, but I sure had fun.

Won't you come visit?

A Common Saturday

Saturday was a pretty nice day, so Mommy, Daddy, and I decided to go downtown to explore.  Our first stop was Boston Common, the oldest park in the country, about 50 acres of land downtown.  It was a good opportunity to stretch my little legs and take pictures.

Look Mommy.  I'm in a hole.

We saw the duckies from the 1941 book Make Way for Ducklings, about a family of ducks who settle on an island in the Boston Garden.

Mommy Duck and babies Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack are shown making their way through Boston.  Here, they even have their Easter bonnets still on.

Then it was time to feed the real duckies.  You can sort of see the famous Swan Boats in the background.

Then we headed over to Quincy Market for lunch.

Corn dogs and chocolate cookies.  Yummy.

I had such a fun day.  I didn't want to head home.  Boo.
